The answer to such an question lies within the devil's motives. While his act is kind his motives are those of a demon. He is generous out of his hate for God. His scolding contempt for the lord taints each favor he gives. When a man seeking god's favor is generous his acts are out of love for God. (In a perfect world they should be, but sometimes mankind seeks God's favor out of fear, these men have no love for god, only hate for their own frailties.) His love for the benefits of his holiness only strengthen the weight of his virtue.
